A day of change on La Velodyssee. The route took me west on the southern side of the river as far as it can to the Atlantic then turned to the south along the coast.
The flat lands of the Loire estuary gave way to the more rugged Atlantic Coast Route. But not before the last available river crossing.
The roads were up and down for the rest of the day after the bridge.
The ride ended after 88 kilometres in a campsite near Port de Collet. I camped next to a chap who was in the same campsite as I was last night. He is called Pascale and is from near Rennes.
After setting up our tents we decided to go out for some dinner at the nearby seafood restaurant. He generously paid for the meal and would not take any money! Thanks Pascale!
He is taking the Velo Francette route from La Rochelle which takes him within 3 kilometres of our house so I invited him to stay when he goes past.
Passed the 500 kilometre point today so good progress being made. On towards La Rochelle for the weekend. A bientot!
I will keep an eye out for Pascale!
Looks lovely great way to see France. Keep well
