An early start after a good nights sleep was the order of the day. Around 100 kilometres to cover to reach La Tranche sur Mer today!
The ride felt much easier today as the North Westerly that I’ve had since Day 1 was a bit stronger so the distance clocked up more quickly than expected.
The route was one of variation all day, although along the usual theme for this coast. Beachside tracks, forest trails and more marsh to cross. There was even wooden boardwalk constructed on some parts of the marshland.
I rolled into La Tranche sur Mer before 4:00 pm giving me time to find a good campsite near to the town.
Just 400 meters from the town centre and very welcoming…this place is perfect. It even has a special cabin with a microwave, fridge freezer and power points exclusively for use by cyclists!
I walked into town for dinner at La Sierra Torride which had very good Google reviews…it did not disappoint! A fantastic steak and a warm welcome. What could be better after 100 kilometres!
To be honest I think they liked me because they thought I was an old bearded biker!
Looking forward to tomorrow as I’ve only got to cycle around 65 kilometres to meet Nicola. I’m going home for my FIRST rest day since the start. It works out well as the route takes me within 60 kilometres of home. I’ll be picked up by car and dropped off, fully rested, at the same point on Sunday. A bientot!
Hurray, You can mow the lawns!
Bearded biker is right you’ll be catching it in the front wheel before long, x
