Some overnight rain in La Tranche sur Mer made it a slow start in the morning. I was motivated by the thought of my first rest day on Day 11! Nic was going to drive to a town just outside La Rochelle to pick me up. I would have 2 nights and a full day at home before being taken back to the extraction point.
After the amazing ride to La Tranche today’s route was disappointing. Mostly ridden on roads or roadside cycle paths. When it became more wild was over the marsh where it was flat and windy.
Fortunately I only had around 65 kilometres to cover so I put my front wheel to the wind and grit my teeth!
The forecast rain did at least stay away and I eventually made it to the rendezvous!
Finished the day with a fantastic Pie and Mash at La Regal’on in Allonne sharing a glass of wine with proprietors Eddie and Heather. Best ‘proper’ London Pie and Mash in the Deux Sevres! Although I always have it with chips…sorry Ed!
Beautiful sheep. Obviously freshly sheared!
Got going again then…. pie and mash sounds good though. Surprised the sheep didn’t take to the hills. 🙂
